Read THREE Very Different Horror Stories: Psychological, Satirical & Post-apocalyptic Horror

A Slow Burn (Post-Apocalyptic Horror Novella)

It wasn't the first time Bernie had woken up in a stranger's house with a sore head, although it'd been a while. But the stench of rotting meat, an eerie silence, and the head wound were new. In search of illumination, she opens the curtains to find a post-apocalyptic world outside. Reason screams—those aren't sleeping revellers at her feet… they're clammy dead bodies.

Struggling to remember the events leading to her taking refuge under a stranger's bed, Bernie stumbles around, wounded and disoriented. In desperation, she hunts down the living, but with death and destruction everywhere, isolation becomes a monster all of its own.

The events that led to this disaster begin to raid her mind, offering only snippets of forgotten information. When a girl finds her and leads her to other survivors, will Bernie remember the most important details in time to save them all, or are their fates irreversible?

The Dead Party (Satirical Horror Short With Zombies)

Imagine the United Kingdom after an election, where the party of choice — the party now in charge of every decision — is The Dead Party. Stinks, right?

Follow our heroine as she recounts how her life, her country, and her access to fish and chips – a basic right in any UK home – changed unimaginably. And see what fate awaits her on an island where the Dead reek and speak and chase her into trees.

This is a political satire, exploring an island ruled by zombies, a massive recruitment initiative, an unpredictable supernatural power, a whole lot of rot… Oh, and one incredibly sly cat!

Rosa and Bella's Journal of Decline (Psychological Horror Short)

Rosa was young, vibrant, intelligent, and in love. But that was before everything changed. Now, she lives a horrific existence with her daughter, baby Bella. This is her account of their decline, in journal format.

This is a UK-based short story told in journal format, focussing on the decline of the world, life, and a reluctant mother's mind.

Portrait

Shah Wharton is a British freelance ghostwriter and author of dark fiction.

Her late father introduced her to the dark side, to the power of words, and to zombie horror movies when far too young. All of which led her to a deep appreciation of storytelling, and to a lifetime love of dark literature and the horror genre.

Mental illness runs in her family, and Shah was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2005. An advocate for mental health awareness, she speaks out on the issue, candidly.

Shah relaxes by watching a dark themed drama, sipping a glass of bold red wine, while snuggling on the sofa with her husband and their two rescue dogs.

Currently, Shah is enhancing her creative and professional skills at university, studying for her Masters in Creative Writing.
