PortraitHerb Boyd is an award-winning writer. He is national editor of the Black World Today, a popular online publication. He is the author of Autobiography of a People (Doubleday, 2000); Brotherman: The Odyssey of Black Men in America (Ballantine, 1996); Black Panthers for Beginners and African History for Beginners (Writers & Readers, 1995 & 1991). Brotherman won the American Book Award for nonfiction, and in 1999, Boyd won three first-place awards from the New York Association of Black Journalists for his articles published in the Amsterdam News. He currently teaches at the College of New Rochelle.
